தாலின், எஸ்தோனியாவின் தலைநகரமும் மிகப்பெரிய நகரமும் ஆகும். இது பின்லாந்து வளைகுடாவில் நாட்டின் மேற்குக் கரையில் ஹெல்சிங்கியிலிருந்து 80 km (50 mi) தெற்காகவும், ஸ்டாக்ஹோமிற்கு கிழக்காகவும் சென் பீட்டர்ஸ்பேர்க்கிற்கு மேற்காகவும் அமைந்துள்ளது. தாலின் பழைய நகரம் யுனெஸ்கோவினால் உலக பாரம்பரியக் களமாக அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இது 2011ஆம் ஆண்டிற்கான ஐரோப்பியக் கலாச்சாரத் தலைநகரங்களில் ஒன்றாக அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது. பதின்மூன்றாம் நூற்றாண்டிலிருந்து 1920கள் வரையான காலப்பகுதியில் இந்நகரம் ரேவல் (Reval) என அறியப்பட்டது.
